Tableau leads in Gartner’s ‘Magic Quadrant for BI and Analytics’

Results are in and for the fifth consecutive year, Tableau is a top leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant BI and Analytics Platform Report. As the 2016 North and South America Reseller of the Year, icimo is honored to be working with this powerhouse in the BI and analytics industry. Each year Gartner works with customers to evaluate modern BI and analytics products. Products are evaluated based on 5 use cases: Agile Centralized BI Provisioning, Decentralized Analytics, Governed Data Discovery, OEM and Embedded BI, Extranet Deployment and 15 capabilities in the following categories: Infrastructure, Data Management, Analysis and Content Creation, Sharing of Findings and overall Platform Capabilities. The Quadrant showcased 24 products with Tableau the leader over products like Microsoft and Qlik.

Known for it’s ease of interaction and intuitive interface, Tableau has empowered business users to drive their own data discovery rather than rely on IT systems and multiple layers of time consuming reporting. This year we’ve seen a shift in strategy. Tableau was so widely successful empowering data discovery at the business user level, a greater demand has formed at the enterprise level for enterprise features bringing IT buyers back into the mix. The report’s findings emphasize Tableau’s strengths in:

Execution – Tableau is viewed as the “modern BI market leader” – ahead of Microsoft. As Tableau continues to develop along side established enterprise solutions, it will be important for Tableau to balance focus on both enterprise features and innovation.

Intuitive Interactive Exploration – Tableau’s ease of use continues to be the driving feature attracting buyers and placing Tableau as the highest ranking of all competitors in this category in the Quadrant.

Customer Experience and Success – Tableau’s overall customer experience and operations rating grew from last year’s Quadrant. Tableau’s ease of learning is significant with references available for classes, online tutorials, webinars etc. offering many learning avenues for both users and partners.
